Venerated comedic actor and film director Harold Ramis passed away at the age of 69, when he succumbed to complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. He was surrounded by his family at the time of death.
Ramis is known as Dr. Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters, one of the highest grossing comedies of all time; as the director of a slew of now canonical comedies, including Stripes, Caddyshack, and Groundhog Day; and as a co-author of Animal House.
