Here’s How it Went When Chris Wallace Pressed Corey Lewandowski to Apologize to Michelle Fields
On this week’s Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace interviewed embattled Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, and Wallace opened the interview by pressing Lewandowski about the recently-dropped battery charges stemming from Lewandowski’s encounter with then-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields. Lewandowski declined to budge from his prior position that he didn’t note the event at the time because it wasn’t as serious as Fields claimed.
Wallace then pressed Lewandowski for an apology, if only to head off potential litigation. Here’s how that went:
I’ve never spoken to Miss Fields. I turned over my phone records to the Palm Beach County District Attorney’s office, it clearly shows I called her phone number that evening, when I got back and read about this on the Twitter feed. I’d be happy to have a conversation with her. But to apologize to someone I’ve never spoken to, and candidly don’t remember ever having any interaction with, I think is something that is a little unrealistic right now.
Only time will tell, but right now, it doesn’t look like Lewandowski’s phone is about to start ringing.
