On Tuesday morning’s “Trouble With Schools” segment Fox & Friends host Gretchen Carlson sat down with Education Action Group founder Kyle Olson to discuss a story about a high school social studies teacher who yelled at her student for trying to “have a little debate with me about Obama,” even suggesting to the teen that he could be arrested for criticizing the President.
“I don’t think it is the norm,” Olson told Carlson, “but there are certainly these people that do the sort of thing in classrooms and it’s not acceptable.”
Carlson had also spoken with the student, Hunter Rogers, who told her that he’d always been taught that “nobody can take your freedom of speech,” and that you’d have to actually threaten the U.S. president to get arrested, not merely offer criticism.
Olson commended Rogers for reporting what had happened in the classroom, urging other students to do the same in similar situations.
