HLN’s Dr. Drew Debuts With Big Jump In Demo, Network’s Best Ratings Of The Night
Cable news ratings, April 4, 2011:
•The premiere of HLN new 9 p.m. show, Dr. Drew, didn’t launch the network ahead of its bigger cable news competitors, but the show hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky did finish Monday night with the highest ratings of any HLN show in terms of viewers 25-54, ahead of the network’s usual ratings champ, Nancy Grace. Dr. Drew had 164,000 viewers 25-54 (just behind CNN’s Piers Morgan who had 207,000 and well behind Fox’s Sean Hannity, who won the hour with 397,000).
The first night performance by Dr. Drew represented a 61 percent increase among viewers 25-54 compared to the previous four week average for the time period on HLN.
•After a slumping performance Friday, Fox’s Glenn Beck bolted back Monday, finishing with the second highest rated show in cable news (after Bill O’Reilly) in terms of viewers 25-54. Beck dominated the 5 p.m. hour with 555,000 viewers 25-54, more than five times the audience of second place finisher Wolf Blitzer at CNN, who had 106,000.
