Anderson Cooper grilled Ted Cruz tonight over his proposal for police patrols in Muslim neighborhoods to prevent radicalization.
Cruz explained there’s a difference between Islam and Islamism, the latter is America’s enemy, and the U.S. can’t keep playing the “politically correct game of denying it.”
Cooper pointed out how Cruz has repeatedly cited the NYPD’s now-ended program doing what he’s proposing as a success that was ended due to politically correct concerns. He told Cruz NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton has said that program lacked any success whatsoever.
Cruz accused Bratton––who was first appointed to be NYPD commissioner by Republican Rudy Giuliani––of just getting in line with Mayor Bill de Blasio‘s progressive agenda.
He remarked that “the media and the Democrats hate it” when Republicans ID America’s enemies, but that’s what needs to be done.
