Howard Kurtz Surpasses 1 Million Viewers for First Time with Fox’s MediaBuzz

Howard Kurtz achieved a major career milestone this past weekend, reaching more than 1 million total viewers for the first time ever on a non-breaking news day, thanks to his new show MediaBuzz on Fox News. MediaBuzz brought in 1.024M total viewers on Sunday, November 17th, something Kurtz managed to do with his previous show Reliable Sources on CNN on only two occasions: March 13th, 2011 when the Japanese Earthquake hit and December 16th, 2012 when the Newtown services were held.

As for Reliable Sources, which competes directly with MediaBuzz, the CNN show brought in 281K total viewers Sunday for less than a third of Kurtz’s total. While the shows came much closer in the 25-54 demo, MediaBuzz’s 181K viewers still bested Reliable Sources’ 109K.

Last week, CNN announced that New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter will soon by taking over as host of Reliable Sources, though this past Sunday it was hosted by CNN’s Frank Sesno.
