Huckabee to CPAC: If America Forgets God, ‘Then God Will Have Every Right to Forget Us’

Speaking before the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee stressed the role of faith and family values in his vision of Republican politics.

The former 2008 presidential candidate and current Fox News host told the crowd that the United States was founded by God and that “if this nation forgets our God, then God will have every right to forget us.” He also suggested America is “no better than the ancient Philistines” when it allows abortion.

“Religious liberty should be unimpeded in this nation,” Huckabee added at another point, before taking on President Obama‘s foreign policy. “Across the world, no one trusts us, no one listens to us, no one respects us and no one fears us.” The former governor also compared Obama to a snake charmer whose snakes had escaped and are now all over the place.

At another point in the speech, Huckabee invoked the September 2012 attacks on an American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, telling the crowd: “I know it had not one thing to do with some ridiculous video. With all due respect to Hillary Clinton, it does make a difference why they died and who did it.”
