‘I Haven’t Changed My Stance’: Trump Smacks ‘Fake Media’ for Saying He’s Softening on China

President Donald Trump spoke to Ainsley Earhardt on Monday during the White House Easter Egg Roll, and slammed the “fake media” by saying they created the notion that he’s softening on China.

“What am I going to do in the middle of [Xi Jinping] talking to North Korea? I’m going to hit him with currency manipulation,” Trump asked. “This is the fake media that does a number.”

Over the last few days, various news agencies have noted how Trump has offered glowing remarks about the Chinese president ever since he visited the Commander in Chief at Mar-a-Lago. This contrasts sharply with Trump’s campaign rhetoric where he bashed China heavily on trade and promised he would designate them as currency manipulators.

Trump declined to outline his strategy to continue dealing with North Korea and talked more about how he has “great respect” for Xi Jinping and has created a “very good relationship” with him. Trump also dismissed the idea that he would start a trade war with China during such a contentious period on the Korean peninsula.
