‘I Want to Know More’: Lindsey Graham Looking to Probe Trump’s Business Dealings
A few days after a golf writer claimed that Eric Trump told him the Trump family’s golf construction business received funding from Russian investors, Senator Lindsey Graham is curious to find out some additional information on President Donald Trump‘s business affairs.
Speaking with CNN’s Manu Raju Tuesday, the South Carolina Republican said that he became more intrigued about Trump’s business matters following an exchange with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper at Monday’s hearing before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee.
“I want to know more about Trump’s business dealings,” Graham said. “I asked Clapper. I said, ‘Is there any business dealings with the Trump organization that gave you concern?’ And he said, ‘No,’ with a caveat, ‘I don’t know what the FBI is looking at so I don’t want to run afoul with them.'”
Graham also suggested that Trump’s taxes could be relevant in such a probe.
“It could be, down the road,” Graham said.
During his briefing Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said he welcomed Graham’s inquiry and denied that the President has any financial ties to Russia.
“He’s fine with that,” Spicer said. “He has no business in Russia. He has no connections to Russia. So he welcomes that. In fact, he has already charged a leading law firm in Washington, D.C. to send a certified letter to Senator Graham to that point, that he has no connections to Russia.”
