‘I’m Disappointed That It Doesn’t Go Quicker’: Trump on House GOP’s Handling of ‘Big Issues’

With President Donald Trump approaching his 100th day in office, he’s going on a bit of a media blitz to tout his achievements. One of those interviews is with one of Trump’s favorite outlets — Fox News.

In an interview with Martha MacCallum that will air later this evening, the president let it be known that he was far from satisfied with how Republicans in the House of Representatives have dealt with major issues, specifically health care.

“I’m disappointed that it doesn’t go quicker,” he stated.

Adding that he “likes them a lot” and has “great relationships” with many of them, Trump highlighted the difficulty he’s had with getting different groups of the caucus to coalesce around the Republican health care plan. He also gave credit to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan for the effort he’s given.

“I’ll tell you, Paul Ryan’s trying very, very hard,” the president noted. “I think everybody’s trying very hard. It’s a very tough system.”

Last month, Republicans’ Obamacare replacement plan was eventually pulled from the floor of the House after GOP leadership was unable to obtain enough backing for the bill. House leaders were looking to hold another vote this week after some tweaking but decided to hold off after once again failing to find enough support. The White House reportedly wanted a vote before the 100th day hit.
