Iranian President Slams U.S. After Nuclear Deal Withdrawal: ‘A Country That Has Never Adhered to its Commitments’
— CBS News (@CBSNews) May 8, 2018
President Donald Trump just announced that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, prompting a swift response from the international community.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed his disappointment and frustration that the U.S. pulled out of the deal.
“Iran is a country that adheres to its commitments and the U.S. is a country that has never adhered to its commitments,” Rouhani said. “Our history in the past 40 years and even prior to that has told us and has indicated that the Americans, speaking of their approach towards the region and the people of Iran, the Americans have always adopted a hostile approach.”
Rouhani also denounced the U.S.’s one-time support of the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
Additionally, according to AP, Rouhani said that if negotiations break down, the Islamic Republic will enrich uranium “more than before… in next weeks.”
