Issa: Trump’s ‘Show of Compassion’ Doesn’t Mean He Won’t Allow Clinton Investigations

Congressman Darrell Issa today said that people should wait to see what happens before getting on Donald Trump‘s case for moving on from investigating Hillary Clinton.

Trump has indicated that he thinks Clinton has been through enough and just wants to put the whole thing to bed, which isn’t sitting well with some Trump supporters.

But Issa told Fox’s Heather Childers today that Trump isn’t saying he’ll interfere if his attorney general or FBI director want to look into it, he just wanted to express a “show of compassion.”

He said President Trump would “stand aside and allow the process to work the way it’s supposed to.”

Issa implored people skeptical of this apparent flip-flop to judge Trump by his actions going forward, saying Republicans in Congress will be asking Trump to “reactivate some form of meaningful special prosecutor” so that the next time something similar to Clinton’s situation happens, there will be no “inherent conflict of interest” with the DOJ.
