On Meet the Press this morning, the entire panel really tore into Donald Trump for what Andrea Mitchell called a “blatantly racist” attack on the Hispanic judge in the Trump University case.
Chuck Todd pointed out that for all of Trump’s bluster, his attorneys have not filed a motion to get the judge to recuse himself, “so the rhetoric doesn’t match the actions.”
Ron Fournier said Trump’s gone from dog-whistle to full bullhorn, with the message that “if you’re not white and you’re not a Christian, you can’t judge me.”
Congresswoman Donna Edwards said there’s clearly no basis for this judge to be removed, while Lanhee Chen said the GOP has forgotten all those lessons they tried to learn after their infamous 2012 autopsy.
Todd pointed out that days after Mitt Romney lost in 2012, Trump was out there saying the Democrats won because they “weren’t mean-spirited” about immigrants.
Edwards said that the GOP is getting ready to lose generations of African-Americans and Latinos as a result of Trump’s nomination.
