‘It Is Not Acceptable’: Hillary Smacks Trump While Denouncing Protestor Violence at Rally
Jake Tapper spoke with Hillary Clinton on Friday’s episode of The Lead, and he asked for her reaction to how Donald Trump‘s rally took a nasty turn last night when some of his supporters were assaulted during clashes with protestors.
Clinton said that she disapproves of all violence in the political arena, but she couldn’t help but point out that the nastiness of the 2016 election occurred due to Trump “inciting it and congratulating people who were engaging it.”
“He created an environment in which it seemed to be acceptable for someone running for president to be inciting violence, to be encouraging his supporters,” Clinton said. “Now we’re seeing people who were against him responding in kind. It should all stop, it is not acceptable.”
Tapper asked if she was concerned that the chaos could cause blowback for the anti-Trump side, but Clinton said she was more interested in seeing the violence end.
“He needs to condemn all violence by everyone,” Clinton said. “I have and I will continue to do so.”
