‘It’s 2017, For F*ck’s Sake:’ Ewan McGregor Responds to Beauty And The Beast Criticism Over Gay Character
Ever since it was announced that the live-action remake of Beauty And The Beast would feature an “exclusively gay moment” and that the character of Le Fou would be gay, Disney and the filmmakers have been both praised and criticized.
Last night on The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert asked Ewan McGregor, who plays Lumière, about it and he didn’t have much to say. At first he joked, “If you live anywhere near Alabama, you should not go see this film… What would Jesus think?”
Then, more seriously, he dismissed the “controversy,” saying, “It’s just like, he’s a gay character. It’s 2017, for f*ck’s sake.”
