Once again yesterday, Donald Trump singled out NBC News’ Katy Tur for criticism. As he went on his usual anti-media tear, he called her out in particular for not reporting on and showing the size of his rallies.
Tur immediately received a great deal of support from colleagues and other reporters on Twitter.
On MSNBC last night, Brian Williams asked Tur what it was like to have Trump call her out like that. In response to a line Williams quoted, she said, “I do have the hide of a rhinocerous, so that helps.”
She went on to say this campaign has been a “wild ride” and unique experience for her over the past year and a half, describing the feeling of having an entire audience of people booing you at once.
Now, that being said, Tur told Williams that Trump’s attacks on the press for not showing the crowds are “factually untrue.”
And, in fact, she said Trump knows it’s false and has joked about it in private, but “this is a schtick that he does to rile up his base.”
