CNN’s Jake Tapper spoke with Congressman Will Hurd (R- TX) this afternoon about Donald Trump Jr.‘s meeting with a Russian lawyer and asked him whether attempts to “normalize” it bother him.
Hurd, a member of the House Intel Committee, said he wouldn’t have taken that meeting and added that “this is becoming a nuisance and a distraction” as more details continue to drip out.
Tapper then posed this question:
“Does it bother you at all to see this attempt to normalize this meeting with what was billed as a Russian government official with high-level dirt on Hillary Clinton?”
The President himself tweeted about it this morning and said “that’s politics.”
Hurd said he wants to withhold judgment until the committee hears more directly from individuals involved in that meeting.
Later on in the program, Tapper discussed the meeting with his panel and said more directly, “It is not normal to go to a meeting where there is an agent from a foreign government to get oppo on your opponent.”
