Jake Tapper Torches WH Turnover in Scathing Commentary: Who’s Next to Be ‘Voted Off the Island?’
Jake Tapper signed off on Tuesday just as news broke of the resignation of Gary Cohn — economic adviser to President Donald Trump.
Nearly 24 hours later, The Lead host finally got his chance to comment on Cohn’s departure — the latest in a series of high-profile White House exits. And he didn’t hold back.
“It’s not just the number of departures that is so jarring,” Tapper said. “Although the sheer volume is quite astounding. It’s also the reasoning behind these exits. Highlighting substantive issues, related to ethics or lack there of, or the Russia investigation, or anything else. Reasons that explain why the presidential approval rating is historically low.”
During his scathing commentary, Tapper even broke out an impersonation of Sebastian Gorka — the former Deputy Assistant to Trump.
“Forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House,” Tapper said, attempting to imitate the unmistakable accent of Gorka while quoting from his resignation letter (via The Federalist).
Tapper added, “As you pour out a cold one for Gary Cohn… keep in mind that what matters just as much as who is leaving is why they’re leaving.”
