Jake Tapper: What Happened to Trump’s ‘Bravado’ on Gun Control?

CNN’s Jake Tapper opened today by reviewing what President Trump publicly said about his commitment to gun control just days ago, then wondering where all that “bravado” went.

In that publicized meeting with lawmakers, Trump not only said he could get things done because there’s a “different president” in town, but he actually called out Republican lawmakers for being too beholden to the NRA.

But his new proposals, Tapper said, “fell way short” and offered ‘scarcely anything of substance to which the NRA would remotely reject.”

He also walked through how the President seems to be just making all these recent decisions on his own with his stated efforts to “disrupt,” especially considering the White House announcement of a commission on school safety (and Trump’s mockery Saturday night of such commissions).
