The rumors are true. Jay Leno, who nobody believed could stay away from television for long, will be returning to the NBC family with a new primetime show based on his web series, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” to air on CNBC starting in 2015.
Following his retirement as host of the Tonight Show earlier this year, speculation swirled that Leno could host a new, competing late night show of Fox or a cable network. But instead, Leno has chosen to focus his energy on his true love — classic cars — with the new CNBC show, which will likely serve as a desirable advertising platform for car companies.
In a statement, Leno said, “This show will be about anything that rolls, explodes, and makes noise. We hope to highlight the passion and the stories behind the men and women who made the automobile the greatest invention of the 20th century.”
