Jeb Bush: ‘Chill Out’ with ‘Politically Correct’ Freakout over ‘Anchor Babies’

jebJeb Bush was on the defensive a few days ago about his use of the term “anchor babies” in reference to children born in the United States to non-citizens. It’s been getting renewed attention in the past week over Donald Trump‘s proposal to end birthright citizenship, but Bush––who’s no fan of Trump’s––has brushed aside criticism that he used a term considered offensive by some.

Bush was speaking live at the U.S.-Mexico border today and was asked again about that term and reacted to Hillary Clinton‘s campaign taking shots at him over it.

He insisted it’s not a derogatory term and explained he’s talking about “organized efforts… more related to Asian people, coming to our country” and taking advantage of the system.

“I think we need to take a step back,” Bush added, “and chill out a little bit as it relates to the political correctness that somehow you have to be scolded every time you say something.”
