Jeb Confronts Trump Over Muslim Ban: You’re a ‘Chaos Candidate!’
The first few moments of the CNN Republican debate tonight featured a sparring match between Jeb Bush and Donald Trump over the latter’s proposed Muslim ban.
Wolf Blitzer started things out by asking Trump if his idea of making America great again is by isolating it on the world stage. Trump defended his Muslim ban––saying it’s about security, not religion––and touted how he will build a big wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.
Bush jumped in next and attacked Trump for his incredibly unserious proposal, saying that The Donald may be “great at the one-liners, but he’s a chaos candidate.” He stood by his belief that the policy is “unhinged.”
Trump responded by (surprise surprise) personally attacking Bush on his “disaster” of a campaign, attributing the attacks to his low poll numbers. (No world on the level of Bush’s energy, though.)
Bush sighed and again said it’s not a serious proposal and runs the serious risk of alienating potential allies in the Muslim world.
