Jen Psaki: Democrats Need to Accept There Were ‘Other Failings’ Besides Russia, Comey for Hillary’s Loss
A day after former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton placed much of the blame for her election loss on FBI Director James Comey and Russian interference, a former Obama White House communications director said that Clinton and Democrats should acknowledge there were other reasons why she came up short.
Following Comey’s testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on FBI oversight, CNN contributor Jen Psaki delivered a bit of criticism on what the FBI chief said, stating he was inconsistent on why he released info on a Clinton investigation but not one related to Donald Trump.
Explaining that the Comey letter and Russia had an impact, Psaki then pushed for her fellow Democrats to come to terms with their shortcomings in the election.
“I think if Democrats and people close to Hillary Clinton who are going to stay in politics don’t take from this that there are a lot of other failings,” Psaki noted. “Including where we didn’t campaign, the fact that there wasn’t polling in swing middle of the country states, the fact that Democrats failed to have an economic message that connected with people, then we’re really missing an opportunity and really putting our heads in the sand to our own detriment.”
During his testimony today, Comey said that it makes him “mildly nauseous” to think he affected the election results.
