Jerry Falwell Jr.: Academic Freedom and Political Correctness ‘Cannot Coexist’ on Campuses

During his Fox News Sunday interview today, Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. touted how Liberty has great academic freedom because it is not constrained by political correctness.

Chris Wallace brought up the growing enrollment numbers there, and Falwell said the kind of Christian education Liberty offers is “so rare in higher education.”

He noted how overwhelming numbers of college faculty members tend to be more liberal and said that political correctness and academic freedom “cannot coexist” on the same campus.

“And when you have everybody at major universities thinking the same way,” Falwell said, “and conservatives are ridiculed when they speak up, I don’t think that’s academic freedom.”
