Fox News’ Jesse Watters said today that President Trump is not being divisive on the issue of NFL player protests, it’s the players who are being divisive.
With The Five back in the 5 pm time slot today, the co-hosts wasted no time in jumping into the big national discussion over players kneeling during the national anthem.
“The only time the left defends football,” Watters said, “is when people disrespect the country.”
He noted criticisms of the NFL from the left, including on the league’s handling of domestic violence, and said that while the President may have gotten “carried away” in Alabama, “I do think he was expressing the view of a majority of the country. No one thinks these guys should be kneeling during the anthem. It’s disrespectful, it’s not your platform to do it.”
He concluded the anthem is a time to “honor the soldiers who died fighting for the flag, not a time to push your grievance.”
