It’s a sad day for fans of The Daily Show. Comedy Central insiders have confirmed that correspondent Jessica Williams is leaving the satirical news show.
“I feel so many emotions,” Williams said to Entertainment Weekly. “I feel like I’m growing up and graduating.”
Williams joined the show in 2012, and though she was the youngest correspondent the show ever had, she has been a driving force in their satirical interviews, analytical segments, and their break downs of social phenomenon. Daily Show host Trevor Noah also commented on Williams’ departure.
“The sadness I have for Jessica leaving is only eclipsed by the joy I have for her starting her new show. If her podcast is anything to go by, it’s going to be an exciting show!”
Indeed, fans won’t have to cry too much, for Williams is leaving The Daily Show for her very own Comedy Central program. Tomorrow’s episode will be her last, but the news means Williams will join the ranks of some of the show’s other graduates, including John Oliver, Larry Wilmore, and Samantha Bee.
