Jimmy Kimmel Runs Hilarious Fake Ad For The ‘Obama Event Registry’

The Obama campaign asked supporters last week to make a sacrifice in the name of their President: if they have a wedding, birthday, or other gift-giving function coming up, to tell guests to send President Obama’s campaign money, instead of the usual present. On his program last night, Jimmy Kimmel mocked the idea with a fake campaign ad showing what would happen if you donated money to the campaign instead of giving a child their birthday present.

“It’s a great way for cheap people to lie about getting you a present,” Kimmel joked, noting that the campaign had said in its promotion of the program, “a campaign donation goes a lot further than a gravy bowl.” “Not if you like gravy!” he joked.

Kimmel then ran an “ad” by the “Obama campaign” showing what you get in return for donating– a “certificate fit for framing,” which a young girl did not seem to appreciate very much at her birthday party.
