Jimmy Kimmel’s Gun Lobby Ad Proves, Without Question, That ‘Everybody’s Guns Are Going To Be Taken Away’
Last night, Jimmy Kimmel previewed President Obama‘s big gun control announcement this morning by giving some background on his recent rhetoric about guns.
Kimmel played a clip from Obama’s press conference this past Monday, in which the president said, “part of the challenge that we confront is, even the slightest hint of some sensible, responsible legislation in this area fans this notion that somehow, here it comes. And that everybody’s guns are going to be taken away.”
Summing up the situation, Kimmel said, “people flip out when they think their guns might be taken away, and some lobbyists will try to whip them into a frenzy with ads like this one.” He then premiered a new ad from a gun lobby group called “Americans Against Context” that played directly into the fears of America’s most passionate Second Amendment advocates.
Kimmel’s faux-ad comes just as the National Rifle Association released a controversial ad calling the president an “elitist hypocrite” for sending his daughters to a school with armed guards while questioning the NRA proposal to have more armed security in schools.
