Mediaite columnist Joe Concha dropped by The Kelly File Thursday night to talk about the continued fallout from Martin Bashir‘s disgusting comments about Sarah Palin, as well as the remarkable silence from MSNBC on the matter. And aside from any official condemnation from the top, Concha wanted to know when the women of MSNBC (Rachel Maddow, Mika Brzezinski, etc.) would come out to denounce Bashir’s attack on Palin.
Concha said the culture at MSNBC shows why you see “these types of vile statements” coming from people like Bashir. He contrasted the silence from Maddow and the other women at MSNBC with how Kelly herself had no problem taking Lou Dobbs to the woodshed for sexist remarks he made (at the time, Concha wrote a column showing the difference between the two networks on this kind of issue).
But what really may have tipped the scales was Bashir losing Matt Lauer a huge Palin exclusive, and Concha pointed out that for whatever’s happening behind the scenes, Palin’s kept her cool and not make any public statements about Bashir thus far.
Then again, as Kelly suggested, Palin may just be used to these kinds of personal attack right now.
