Joe Lockhart: I’ve Never Seen a Presidential Fundraising Text Following an Oval Office Address
CNN Political Commentator and former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart lit into President Donald Trump’s Oval Office address Tuesday night, calling it the “definition of being disingenuous” for claiming that there is a border crisis in general. But it was the actions of the Trump campaign via text messaging before and after his national address that also vexed Lockhart.
Shortly after the Commander in Chief finished his Oval Office speech, the Trump campaign sent out the following text asking for donations:

Lockhart appeared to find it distasteful to exploit an alleged border crisis as a means to raise campaign funds.
“I’ve never seen an Oval Office address that was both preceded and followed by a text from the President of the United States saying please donate to my campaign because of this speech.”
New Day host Alisyn Camerota made clear what Lockhart was saying “He was fundraising off of it” to which Lockhart agreed.
