Joe Scarborough Predicts Trump Won’t Seek Reelection in 2020: ‘He Didn’t Want To Be Elected President’

On Thursday night, MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski appeared on The Late Show and gave their thoughts on 2020.

Stephen Colbert began by asking them who they thought are “reasonable” Democratic hopefuls that they think are running.

“It looks like that Joe Biden is running. I think John Kerry is gonna run,” Brzezinski responded. “I love Kamala Harris.”

Colbert then pivoted to the GOP side and asked the Morning Joe co-hosts if they think anyone will challenge President Donald Trump in the primaries. Scarborough believed so… but not for the reason you think.

“I don’t think they will have to step up to challenge Donald Trump because I don’t think Donald Trump is going to run for reelection,” Scarborough told Colbert. “He didn’t want to be elected president, he didn’t think he was going to be elected. He didn’t even think he was going to get the Republican nomination. He’s gonna cash out.”

“I think that would be a smart thing for him to do,” Colbert. “I’m serious. I’ll tell you why I don’t want it to happen is that I think it’s important that the voters of America have an opportunity to say, ‘Oops, my bad! We made a mistake there’ and correct themselves, and if Donald Trump doesn’t run, he takes away that corrective action of history and therefore, his presidency is whole and unjudged if he just doesn’t run again, if he’s just ‘I fixed it, made it great again, goodbye,’ and takes the $100 million he’s raised and goes andmakes another failing casino or something.”
