Earlier this week, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to blast the “dishonest media” for claiming that Chief of Staff John Kelly was about to be fired, although it wasn’t readily apparent which reports Trump was referencing. And he didn’t bother to share.
During today’s White House press briefing, Kelly popped up to address the press corps and let them know that he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“Although I read it all the time, pretty consistently, I’m not quitting today,” Kelly stated, to a smattering of laughs. ” I don’t believe, and I’ve just talked to the president, I don’t believe I’m being fired today.”
Kelly also seemingly addressed reports that he has become extremely flustered trying to reign in the president, saying he isn’t “so frustrated that he’s thinking of leaving” while adding that this is the “hardest job” he’s ever had.
