John King Slams Sarah Sanders: Spicer Gone But Briefing Room Still a ‘Fact-Free’ Zone

Sean Spicer may be gone, CNN’s John King said today, but “the briefing room [is] still often a fact-free and fact-challenged zone.”

King said it’s clear that Chief of Staff John Kelly’s recollection of Rep. Frederica Wilson‘s 2015 speech was “faulty,” and yet instead of an apology or acknowledgement of this, there was “another effort, at taxpayer expense, to redefine truth.”

Yesterday Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she doesn’t believe Kelly “mischaracterized” what Wilson said, adding, “I don’t think he has anything to correct or apologize for.”

King ran the clip of that and said while Kelly is certainly deserving of respect, “what he said was not true.”

He was also bewildered by Huckabee Sanders talking about how people shouldn’t question Kelly, saying “that is equal to, if not a greater violation [than] anything Sean Spicer said behind that podium.”
