Last Week Tonight host John Oliver told the Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert how he really feels about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The two former Daily Show correspondents reminisced about their time on the Jon Stewart-led program too, but not before getting into the gritty details of the ongoing 2016 election cycle (in the year 2015). Oliver, whose HBO program quickly became famous for its instantly-viral deep-dives on issues like Brian Williams‘ resurrection and the current European migrant crisis, had plenty to say when Colbert asked, “Do you care about [Trump] at all?”
“I couldn’t give less of a shit,” Oliver said to much applause. “It’s physically impossible.”
“Come on,” he quipped with Colbert. “It’s the 2016 election, and it’s 2015 right now. I don’t care until we’re in the same year as the thing I’m supposed to care about.”
When Colbert brought up the all-too obvious question of Oliver’s citizenship, and whether or not the British television host can vote, he responded: “No I can’t. It’s taxation without representation. You got all pissy about it when we did it.”
They closed on a brief discussion about how much they miss Stewart, and how well they thought new Daily Show host Trevor Noah host has done so far.
