On Turesday’s edition of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart took on the rhetoric surrounding President Barack Obama‘s recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as Iran’s commitment to taking a preemptive strike.
He made note of Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich‘s takes on the issue, all of which involve taking a rather firm hand with Iran. Of course, Stewart pointed out, they’re all “talking tough” because it’s an election year. And, surely, Iran wouldn’t take their heated rhetoric literally. Right?
Well, juuuuust in case they do, Stewart decided to address Iran directly via the show’s “Iran-Cam.”
“The talk of war isn’t meant for you,” he explained. “It’s meant for Florida,” that shimmering oasis of old Jews and young Christians.
Then, he switched on over to the “Israel-Cam,” calming viewers there by letting them know that Iran is just partaking in “crazy election talk.” But not, like, crazy crazy.
Needless to say, it all became very complicated, dick jokes notwithstanding.
The big takeaway from the segment? “Fuck this baklava.” I think.
