Jon Stewart Hijacks Late Show, Rips Trump: ‘Nobody Says ‘Believe Me’ Unless They Are Lying’
Jon Stewart left late night comedy only weeks after Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign. The cruel irony has not been lost on anyone — in particular the performer himself.
On last night’s airing of The Late Show, hosted by Stewart protege, Stephen Colbert, Stewart returned with some tough words for Trump and the media that covers him.
“Nobody says ‘believe me’ unless they are lying,” said Stewart poking fun at Trump’s well-documented habit for exaggeration.
Stewart, who reminded everyone of his own hatred for CNN, then turned his fire on the media. “Can’t you see he’s an asshole,” he said comparing the relationship to a spurned lover.
For good measure, he also referred to the fourth estate as “blabbermouths,” “thin-skinned” and “narcissistic.”
