Jon Stewart on ‘PC Policing’: You Don’t Have the Right to Not Be Criticized
With all the comedians talking about political correctness these days, it was only a matter of time until Jon Stewart waded into that debate. Stewart talked with Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano about the Confederate flag before shifting to political correctness.
Stewart said he’s a little put off by how people use free speech as a cudgel, as if to say anyone criticizing them is an assault on free speech. Both he and Napolitano agreed that sounds more like the right to not be offended, which doesn’t exist.
After talking about the flag some more, Stewart said, “I’m really interested in this new trend of if somebody pushes back on you, that’s PC policing.”
“I find that shocking,” he told Napolitano, “especially when they say, ‘It’s only from the left.’ The Smothers Brothers got thrown off television. Nobody has the right to have a television show.”
