Jon Stewart Tells Larry King CNN Shouldn’t Have Fired Rick Sanchez
Jon Stewart went on Larry King Live last night to discuss several topics, among them Stewart’s upcoming rally, his new book, and Rick Sanchez‘ firing from CNN – in which, of course, Stewart accidentally played a part. Dis he think Sanchez deserved his fate? Well…not at all.
Stewart said point-blank, “Should they have fired him? No,” explaining that “with the crap you guys [at CNN] have put on over the last 10 years,” Sanchez didn’t stand out as doing a particularly bad job. (That was one of many shots at CNN.) He further said that he thinks the idea that someone could be be fired over such comments “absolute insanity,” and that he wasn’t “personally hurt.”
Stewart reiterated what he said on The Daily Show that he “wasn’t crazy about” Sanchez’ program and that he’s “a ham,” but definitely doesn’t seem to hold a grudge against the guy, saying if the real reason he got fired was calling Stewart a bigot, then “hire him back tomorrow.”
And while he picked on CNN at every opportunity, Stewart does like King. And he even had what some might consider a surprising amount of praise for Fox News and their “brilliantly authoritative” viewpoints. King takes his share of abuse, but he got a good segment out of Stewart. Video below.
