Julia Louis-Dreyfus took home the Emmy award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the second year in a row Sunday night. And she did America a favor by accepting the award as her character, Vice President Selina Meyer from HBO’s Veep.
Louis-Dreyfus was joined on stage by Best Supporting Actor winner Tony Hale, also in character as “bag man” Gary Walsh, who held the actress’ tiny purse and whispered in her ear the names of the people she needed to thank. To complete the scene the camera cut to Anna Chlumsky, as chief of staff Amy Brookheimer, rolling her eyes and playing with her Blackberry from the audience.
