Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback Gets High School Kid In Trouble After She Tweeted He ‘Sucked’
Kansas high school student Emma Sullivan is being asked to write an apology to Governor Sam Brownback after she jokingly tweeted “just made mean comments at gov brownback and told him he sucked, in person #heblowsalot.”
Sullivan had gone on a school field trip to Topeka where the Republican governor was speaking and disagreed with much of what he had to say. “I don’t agree with a majority of the things that he’s trying to pass or not letting pass,” Sullivan said.
The day after she wrote the tweet, Sullivan found herself in hot water with Brownback’s office, who had contacted the school and got her sent down to the principal’s office. “He explained to me that someone from Brownback’s office got a hold of it and sent it to someone in charge of the district,” explained Sullivan. “I didn’t think everyone would be freaking out!”
Sullivan disagreed with the principal’s proposal of her to write an apology.
“I believe that it is my right to state my opinion,” said Sullivan.
