Rove Compares Romney's Leave From Bain To Steve Jobs' Medical Leave From Apple

There is still much confusion over Mitt Romney‘s leave of absence from Bain Capital after 1999 and what it means about his involvement, or lack thereof, with the business. On Fox News Sunday today, Rove tried to explain it by comparing Romney’s leave from Bain to when Steve Jobs took a medical leave of absence early last year from Apple.

Regarding claims that Romney still had responsibilities over Bain during his leave of absence, Rove dismissed them as “baloney” and compared Romney’s leave to when Jobs took a leave from Apple for medical reasons.

“When Steve Jobs was the CEO of Apple and took a leave of absence for medical reasons, nobody continued to say, ‘Well, you’re the guy who’s making the day-to-day decisions.’ Romney was busy running the Olympics.”

Rove said that if the Obama campaign continues to insinuate Romney may have committed a felony, it will be “gutter politics” and run counter to how Obama ran in 2008. Democratic strategist Joe Trippi said that Romney hasn’t come out and defended himself that forcefully against the charged.
