Holder visited the city last week to calm locals who generally believe that Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old black man, was wrongfully killed on August 9 by police officer Darren Wilson.
“I think he did something of a good job,” Rove said of Holder. He said Holder’s comments in Ferguson about having personally experienced racial prejudice were “a good thing.”
Rove added, however, that some other comments from Holder indicated that he would not be impartial investigating the shooting.
“I was worried about some of the words that he used,” the GOP strategist explained. “He said we can’t have a conversation about what happened on August 9, and [by] sometime in December nothing has happened… He would have been better off had he said, ‘I understand where you’re coming from because I’ve suffered this myself and I’m going to make certain that justice is done and we’ll get to the bottom of this.'”
