Karl Rove Not Surprised by ‘Latte Salute’ From ‘Basketball Trash-Talkin’ Obama
Republican strategist Karl Rove on Tuesday offered up perhaps the most hysterical and bizarre reaction to President Barack Obama‘s now-infamous “latte salute.”
On Tuesday, Obama exited Marine One in New York, NY, hot drink in hand. He greeted the two men in uniform at the steps of the aircraft by saluting with his right hand, which, incidentally, was also carrying the cup.
Fox News’s Sean Hannity asked Rove if former president George W. Bush would have also saluted military personnel in such a haphazard way.
“Are we surprised?” Rove said, before launching into this salad: “After all, we’ve got a chai-swillin’, golf-playin’, basketball trash-talkin’, leadin’-from-behind, I-got-no-strategy, Osama-bin-Laden-is-dead, GM-is-alive, community-organizin’ commander-in-chief.”
“How disrespectful was that?” Rove said.
“I was shocked,” replied Hannity.
“Insensitive,” Rove agreed.
Hannity said, ‘You can’t stop and salute the brave men and women?”
Rove concluded, “It’s not a latte salute, it’s a chai salute because he drinks chai. I mean, please. How disrespectful was that?”
The National Republican Senatorial Committee is now attempting to raise money off the “latte salute.”
