Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway reacted to the big new FBI news today about nothing new found in those emails so far, telling MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki that by and large things haven’t really changed.
She remarked upon how quickly the Democrats and the Hillary Clinton campaign flip-flopped on this matter––describing it as “deliciously ironic”––but Kornacki pointed out that the Trump campaign hasn’t been 100 percent consistent on this issue.
In the interest of consistency, Conway did say that Comey “mishandled the investigation from the beginning,” citing how despite all the evidence he laid out Clinton was ultimately never charged.
Conway also claimed, “We have not made this a centerpiece of our messaging.” Kornacki pointed out that Trump called this “bigger than Watergate,” in addition to his comments today.
She also expressed some doubt that the investigation was as thorough as it should have been, asking, “Do you think that they went through hundreds of thousands of emails in a week? Because that may strike a lot of Americans as unusual.”
