Kellyanne Conway: Trump Thinks Writer of Anonymous NYT Op-Ed Is in ‘National Security’
On Friday, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that President Donald Trump has narrowed down his search for the person responsible for the anonymous New York Times op-ed.
And it seems Trump thinks it is someone in national security.
Asked by Amanpour if she thinks the op-ed writer is inside the White House, Conway responded, “Most of us don’t think that.”
She then said this: “The president just today said he believes it’s somebody in national security.”
She then joined the chorus of Trump insiders who are calling for the crusading culprit to resign.
“What I do believe is that who has said that ought to come forward and say it, or ought to resign because the loyalty is not to the president only, or at all, it is loyalty to the presidency,” she said. “It is loyal to the Constitution.”
Earlier today, President Donald Trump called on the Department of Justice to investigate the author of the Times op-ed and also pointed fingers at national security, telling reporters aboard Air Force One, “I would say Jeff should be investigating who the author of that piece was because I really believe it’s national security.”
