Secretary of State John Kerry testified from Congress today on ISIS, and took a moment to address the Code Pink protesters in the hearing room and implored them to just “stop and think” about how important it is to stop ISIS.
Kerry praised Code Pink as an organization who was founded by women who “thought that a government’s job was to take care of people and to give them healthcare and education and good jobs.” He used this to make the case for why Code Pink should “care about fighting ISIL.”
Kerry said ISIS not only denies women basic education and health care, but they kill and rape women, and sell many of them into sex slavery. He went on at some length about how horrible ISIS is before concluding, “Code Pink and a lot of other people need to stop and think about how you stop them and deal with that.”
One protestor started shouting, repeatedly, “More invasions will not protect the homeland!” as she was escorted from the room.
