According to House of Cards star Kevin Spacey, the Netflix series’ nefarious Frank Underwood is actually addressing someone we’ve all become a little too familiar with as of late.
Stephen Colbert asked Spacey about the matter on Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show, and the actor didn’t disappoint.
“You play one of the spookiest, creepiest guys in all political entertainment,” says Colbert. “Who do you think you’re talking to when you talk right to the camera? Who is that person? Is it like a close confidant? Because the persons you’re actually talking to, of course, are people on a 10-hour Netflix binge, sucking on box wine.”
“When I’m looking directly into that camera, I’m talking to one person and one person only, and that is Donald Trump.”
So is this a ringing endorsement from Spacey for Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign? Probably not, especially when one considers the fact that its Underwood, and not Spacey himself, who’s jokingly addressing the New York real estate mogul. Nobody wants that endorsement.
Even so, let’s see how long it takes for Trump’s social media team to convert the gag into an actual endorsement.
