Delaney was giving an introduction for the awarding of the Liberty Medal to Gates but appeared off her game: rambling and tripping over many of her words as audience members looked on in horror.
“My heart has been broken on numerous occasions as I try to comfort wives, husbands, families, fathers, children…loved ones made good, what I’ve learned is the Constitution Center, knowing no words, no talk no anything can bring back their people. For me, it’s all make-believe,” Delaney mumbled incoherently.
After struggling at the podium for several minutes, Delaney was swiftly escorted off the stage.
CBS’ Philadelphia affiliate reported that the ceremony was marred with technical problems and her teleprompter was not working.
