Kim Kardashian West for President?
— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) June 16, 2018
Kim Kardashian West sat down for an interview with CNN’s Van Jones in the wake of the release of 62-year-old Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug charge before her sentence was commuted by President Donald Trump at the request of the reality tv star.
Jones, in a clip that aired Friday night, asked Kardashian the pressing question: “Would you ever run for office?”
“Oh, I don’t think that’s even on my mind,” Kardashian said.
“Trump’s president — it could happen?” Jones noted.
“I know,” Kardashian replied. “That’s why Kanye loves him. The idea that anything could happen.”
“I guess never say never,” Kardashian added about her political ambitions (*shudders*). “But! that’s not going to be like, ‘Kim’s running,’ that’s not what I’m going for.”
“If more people would just put their personal feelings aside and talk about really important issues that have to be discussed, then so much more could get done,” she said.
Kardashian met with Trump earlier this month about the case of Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender, serving a life term without parole thanks to mandatory sentencing rules. Trump commuted her sentence and she was released last week.
