Now that the government shutdown is over, Jimmy Kimmel moved away from his recent attacks on Republicans and instead focused a good portion of his monologue on the problems plaguing the Affordable Care Act’s website, HealthCare.gov. The late night hosts also used the unfortunate fainting incident during President Obama’s Rose Garden speech yesterday to identify the real “Obamacare.”
Describing the various problems with the site, Kimmel joked, “This is what happens when we don’t outsource to India, things get screwed up.” He said that if you really need health care now, you can wait for the site to get fixed “or you can enroll in medical school, graduate and then just take of yourself, which is probably faster.”
Kimmel showed the clip of the woman who fainted during Obama’s speech and followed it by saying, “Well, there you go, that’s Obamacare. As long as you get sick in the presence of the president, you’re covered.”
Finally, the host simulated a phone call to HealthCare.gov, which did not make things look much better. Jay Leno has been making Obamacare jokes in this vein for months, and recently Jon Stewart jumped on board. Now it appears that Kimmel has joined them.
